PMAY is a housing scheme introduced by the Indian Government in 2015. This initiative was taken to provide affordable housing to the urban poor. It aims to build at least 2 crore houses for individuals who do not have a pucca house.These houses are built, keeping in perspective the Geo-climatic and sociocultural factors. This aim to provide housing to the economically marginalized families residing in urban areas, known as PMAY – Urban, was converged with Indira Awas Yojana, now restructured as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.
