The government makes an effort to assist farmers or enhance their revenue through these schemes. Meghalaya’s government has started the Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme. This program has been introduced for Meghalayan farmers. The Meghalaya government would help the poorest of the poor rural households through the implementation of this program by providing 4 high yielding breed piglets.

Meghalaya Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme 2023

The Meghalaya Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme was introduced by the chief minister of Mr. Conrad K. Sangma. The Meghalaya government would help the poorest of the poor rural households through the implementation of this program by providing 4 high yielding breed piglets. There will be two phases to this scheme. The government will distribute the four high yielding pigs to 6,000 individuals in Phase 1 of this scheme.

Phase 1 has a budget of Rs.15.18 crores. Phase 2 of this plan will begin when Phase 1 has been successfully completed. Phase 2 will have a Rs.40 crore budget. Phase 2’s budget was around 25 crores more. The government intended for this plan to expand pig breeding in the state of Meghalaya. This scheme will also address the shortage of pork by employing a method that involves growing pigs and taking all essential precautions.
