The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, I’m delighted to introduce the Medhashree scheme, which will offer scholarships to students from Other Backward Classes. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and members of minority groups are eligible for a yearly stipend of Rs. 800 under the Medhashree scholarship. To defend student interests, the West Bengal government would do its part. 2.63 lakh students would gain from the Medhashree Prakalpa schemes annually. The government of West Bengal has also established a 17% OBC reservation.

The goal of this scholarship is to open doors for those in the economically underprivileged segment of society. On Thursday, the West Bengal state’s chief minister announced this scholarship. The Chief Minister declared that she would continue to offer the scholarship opportunity to the recipients as she had done previously. According to the pronouncements made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal the central government stopped offering scholarship possibilities to the public a long time ago.

The benefits for this scholarship is given below:
- Mamta Banerjee the chief minister of West Bengal created the Medhashree Scholarship which offers an annual stipend of Rs 800 to students from impoverished and minority communities.
- 2.63 lakh students would yearly gain from this scheme. The government has implemented a 17% reservation for OBCs. Over 3.83 crore students have received scholarships under the Aikyashree scheme and 40,000 of them have also received student credit cards, claims Banerjee.

- First you have to visit the official website of the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation
- The homepage will open on your screen.
- Click on the Students Area option
- A new page will open in front of you
- Click on the Fresh Registration option and select your district
- The application form will open on your screen
- Enter all the required details such as District, block name, father name, mother name, gender, date of birth, account no, IFSC code, mobile number, religion etc
- Click on the Submit and proceed button
- An automatically generated user ID and password will be kept secure for future usage
- Enter the login credentials
- The dashboard of your account will open on your screen
- Verify all the details and click on the Submit button
- Now download the form and take a printout
- A copy of your bank account passbook and IFSC number should be sent
- Submit in the application to the appropriate department
