  • The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scholarship was launched by the Authority of Science and Technology on 13 November  2008, for a total of Rs.1979.25 crores.
  • Every year, the government provides 10000 candidates with college scholarships worth Rs 80,000.
  • All applicants who wish to continue their study in the scientific stream but are unable to do so due to their financial situation will get financial aid through this scheme.
  • This scholarship is a part of the inspire strategy.
  • The government also provides several grants,fellowships,internships and scholarships in support of the inspire initiative.

Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility Criteria for for this scholarship is given below:

  • A permanent resident of India is required to register.
  • Student age should be between 17 and 22 years old.
  • The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited university to be considered.
  • All candidates who passed the class 12 state or national board exams in India with an overall grade within the top 1% are eligible.
  • All applicants who have earned rank in JEE of IIT,AIPMT within top 10,000 ranks and are now studying natural basic sciences courses in India are eligible to apply.The candidate must be enrolled in natural and basic sciences courses at the BSc,BS and integrated MSc/MS Level.
  • Students enrolled in MS programmes in natural and fundamental sciences at IISER, NISER, the Authority of Atomic Energy Center for Basic Sciences,University of Mumbai,Visva Bharati or Shantiniketan who received the top 1% of their class in India’s 12th-grade exams may also apply.
  • Those candidates who are chosen for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and are enrolled in natural science bachelor’s or master’s level studies are also eligible to apply.
  • Additionally, candidates who have achieved success in the National Talent Search Examination, the Jagadish Bose National Scientific Talent and the International Olympiad may apply if they are enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s level natural science courses.
